In 2006, Andreas Bulling received his MSc. in Computer Science from the Technical University of Karlsruhe (TH), Germany, with the main focus on embedded systems, process control and robotics and biomedical engineering. During his studies in Karlsruhe he worked at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Prof. A. Bolz) and on humanoid robots at the Institute for Process Control and Robotics (Prof. H. Wörn). He conducted his diploma thesis entitled "Design and implementation of an automatic ECG analysis platform with biostatistical evaluation" at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Biosigna GmbH - Medical Diagnostics, Munich. Since 1998, he also works as a freelancer in the fields of IT consultancy and service and (open-source) software engineering.

In October 2006, he started his PhD in the Wearable Computing Group (Prof. G. Tröster) at the Electronics Laboratory with his research activities having particular emphasis on eye movements and visual perception for activity recognition and extended context-aware systems.
